OPENING THE COURTS - COVID-19 UPDATE

For the first time in club history (as far as we know), MLC is requiring members to reserve court time in advance.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are implementing an online court reservation system to open up the courts to members and keep everyone safe and healthy.  In order for this to work, we have some rules that everyone must follow.

First, we are following USTA rules with regard to tennis safety dealing with COVID-19.  Please read the USTA Playing Tennis Safely: Tips and Recommendations prior to playing at MLC.

Below is the list of rules specific to MLC.  We will update as we find necessary.

  • All court usage MUST be reserved prior to playing online using this system.  No walk-ons.

  • Court usage will be limited to one hour time slots

  • Players are to wrap up play and exit the courts 10 minutes prior to the end of the hour.  This will allow sufficient time to exit the courts and minimize traffic at the club

  • Singles play only for now.  We will allow doubles when we get approval from government authorities.

  • Courts should NOT be swept between sessions as we want to minimize touching of sweeping equipment

  • Players on Court 2 should enter/exit from the pavilion rather than the gate on Tennis Lane.

  • Reservations are limited to one slot per day and members can have 3 pending reservations at a time.

  • Members can reserve up to 10 days in advance

  • Juniors are allowed to book courts 3 hours in advance of an open time slot to give preference to adult members

  • Guests are NOT allowed on the courts for this initial phase of opening

  • Cancellations must be done online ASAP to give others a chance to use the court time

  • No shows will be charged $10 per hour.

  • Clubhouse access is for bathrooms only.  All surfaces must be sanitized before and after use.

  • All clubhouse access should be by the side, not the front door.

  • No furniture will be put out

  • The refrigerator will be locked.

Failure to follow these rules may result in a loss of court privileges for a week or more depending on the infraction.  Please be patient as we work through this.  We want everyone to enjoy tennis and be safe at the same time.

Thank you,
